July 7th, 2010 CO109 EDI-EWR Business First
This month I was lucky enough to find a regular priced business class award from EDI-EWR on CO. The flight was aboard one of Continental's 757-200 aircraft with 16 lie flat business class seats. Continental is in the process of converting to a lie flat product on most of their International fleet.
I found EDI (Edinburgh, Scotland UK) a very pleasant airport to use, although the BMI lounge there only has a view of the short term parking lot..

Warm Nuts, Ginger Ale and the Daily Mail

Table Setting for Lunch

First Course, Seafood Chowder, Chicken Skewer and Puff Pastry

Second Course of Salad with Red Wine Vinaigrette

Third Course of New York Strip Steak with Vegetables and New Potato's

Fourth Course of a Selection of Cheese with Traditional Accompaniments

Fifth Course of Vanilla Ice Cream with Hot Fudge

Flight time was 7 hours and 4 minutes on this route. You can learn more about the new Business First lie flat seats from this link. I don't have much experience with International Premium class travel, however my impression was mainly positive. I did have some issue getting comfortable in a reclined position, but two pillows took care of that.
The AVOD hardware was impressive. Each seat features a 15.4 inch LCD display with multiple power points to charge personal devices. I thought the material loaded for viewing left a bit to be desired, but with at-seat power one could watch one's own DVD's on a laptop, which I did.

A Selection of Power Points

15.4 Inch LCD

Electronic Seat Controls

Additional seat Control
About 1 hour prior to arrival a snack was served.

Pre-Arrival Snack

Pastry Filled with Beef and Topped with Cheese and Tomato

Smoked Salmon

Fruit Salad

Cup of Tea to Wake Me Up After All That Food
The approach was pretty bumpy as the weather in the New York area was hot and humid. Overall this was a very comfortable flight. I hope to be able to enjoy Continental's Business First product again.
